Would you care to dance?

A girl in a ball gown
Hair piled atop her head
Standing still and quiet
On the twirling dance floor
Red lips tremble
A dark tear slips down
Red nails brush white neck
Her hands clutch her throat
She gasps for breath
Music swallows the sound
She squeezes tighter
Everyone slow dances
She’s tired of crying
A couple kisses behind her
Her hands fall away
The song ends again
Again she’s too weak
The ballroom empties
She drops to her knees.
